The Pin-Up: A Modest History
This book contains a condensed history of the cheesecake tradition, and even some of the beefcake tradition, tracing the earliest known paintings and photos of women (and some men) meant to tantalize and entertain the viewer, and including some of their Renaissance predecessors. The book is a tribute to a certain kind of eroticism that seems to be lacking in the age of instant internet pleasure with little regard to beauty or substance. It is chock full of beautiful black and white photos and very informative pieces.
